A.J. McGinnis raises eyebrows at AL.com Classic
2019 Madison (AL) James Clemens shooting guard A.J. McGinnis quietly put together a solid week of action at the AL.com Classic.
The 6-foot-4 McGinnis especially rose to the occasion Wednesday evening in James Clemens' semi-final action against Mae Jemison. He poured in 15 points, including four 3-pointers.
At his size, McGinnis is extremely long with a wiry frame. He has a high IQ, along with a solid skill-set. While he currently produces with his ability to shoot from the perimeter, he's only going to be better with time.
McGinnis' father, Tony McGinnis, starred at Texas A&M during the 1990's as a three-year starter. The younger McGinnis has all the tools to be a productive player at the next level.
"Murray State and Samford are the only schools showing interest right now," McGinnis told HoopSeen.com. "I went to Auburn's elite camp and Bruce Pearl told me he really liked my game, but I haven't heard from him since then."
With plenty of time still left in his high school career, McGinnis will be a prospect to watch for in Alabama's 2019 class.
