Now that the first semester of classes is coming to a close, college coaches will begin to hit the road a bit more often in scouring the nation for available prospects late in the 2017 recruiting cycle. On Thursday at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Justice Sueing displayed immense versatility, solid athleticism, and a college ready body that should enable for a heightened recruitment moving ahead.

A 6-foot-7 small forward by way of Hawaii, Sueing entered the continental United States two years ago settling in nicely at the mighty Mater Dei High School in southern California. Having run with the Cal Supreme 17-under squad this past summer alongside a bevy of four and five star talent, Sueing remained under the radar, a position that he should no longer be in.

Suiting up for his final year of play and the chance to make a deep run into the high school basketball season at Mater Dei, Sueing showed just how good he could be on Thursday evening. Sporting a 3.8 GPA in the classroom, the impressive senior used the same smarts on the basketball floor in attacking poor closeouts, maximizing the mismatch presented onto him, and defending various spots on the court.

Just now seeing his recruitment pick up some, Sueing holds a bevy of mid-level offers from west coast programs but just two from more of the respects programs coming in the form of Saint Mary’s and Utah. Having officially visited both programs, the latter that he tripped to this past week, Sueing spoke on what stood out about Larry Krystkowiak’s program. “Utah had an amazing environment. The people at the university were very welcoming,” the Mater Dei product noted. “Coach K and the staff have a lot of confidence in me and their style of play would fit me well.”

After a dominant game on Thursday in front of Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak and assistants from California, Columbia, UNLV, New Mexico, TCU, and Wyoming, Sueing scored the ball inside and out, showed off impressive athleticism at the basket, defended all over the floor, and even facilitated his team’s half-court offense, the west coast recruit brought us up to speed on what he is exactly looking for in a college. “I just want to find the program that fits me best,” Sueing stated. “Really just the environment and having the coaches that really believe in me.”

Upon his dominant run on the floor at Bishop Gorman High School, it would be difficult to doubt Sueing, a prospect that has the game and the grades to be in high demand for a plethora of the top basketball and academic programs nationwide.
