Upon making a reclass into the 2018 class this past fall and transferring into the mighty Brewster Academy program, Sidney Wilson has flourished within his new role at the prep powerhouse out of New Hampshire. Making the transition solely into the small forward position, the 6-foot-7 target has shown great improvements in recent months, giving easy insight as to why his college recruitment has bettered by the day.

A native of the Bronx, New York, Wilson is someone that was originally seen as a tweener forward in between spots in the frontcourt that had some work to do with his ball skills and in extending the range on his jumper. In Connecticut over the weekend at the National Prep Showcase, the junior forward displayed excellent improvements within his skillset and game.

He has reworked his handles and become better in breaking his man down from off the bounce, hit on a number of tough mid-range jumpers, and was an elite producer whenever the game sped up. Wilson uses his quick twitch muscles, length, and athleticism to score at the basket and despite his somewhat skinny physique, the New Yorker has underrated toughness levels where he scored on a few conversions through contact off of his feet. Toss in his helpside shot blocking skills and now becoming a better playmaker in transition and the Brewster product seems to have taken the next step in his game.

For a variety of reasons, Wilson has seen his college recruitment really pick up where a few heavyweight programs have begun to stand out for the top-50 junior. “Texas, Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame, Miami, and UConn are probably the schools that I talk to the most,” Wilson stated.

The one caveat to it all is that Wilson, if he wanted to, could make it work and reclass back into his original 2017 class. “Texas is the only program that has really said that they would take me for next year,” he said. “But I really want to make an impact and just be ready, that’s why I think staying in the 2018 class is best for me.”

Whether he does decide to opt back into the 2017 class or remain with his new classmates within the junior crop, expect to hear much more about the active, athletic, and new productive forward known as Sidney Wilson.
