Elite Fall Preview: Team 3 Evals
The inaugural Elite Fall Preview was a stage for the class of 2019 and 2020 to compete against their peers in an invite-only setting. The camp was intense throughout the day and a chance for our staff and hoop heads in the South to get a peek at who has next. We compiled our notes from the coaching staff and our evaluators. Today we look at Team 3 from the Elite Fall Preview.
Mekhail Bethea, CG, Dacula, 2019: “One of the hardest playing guards in the camp,” wrote his camp coach in the post-event evaluations. It is hard to argue with that. Bethea is a great competitor and proved himself as one of the top overall guards in the camp. He handles the ball with both hands well and utilized his craftiness in transition by pushing the ball and finishing well. Just a terrific day all around for Bethea. - Justin Young
Savannah, GA
Trae Broadnax, PG, Islands, 2019: The son of Savannah State head coach Horace Broadnax plays under control and uses his body well to get where he wants to go on the court. There wasn’t a rush to a play and he picked his spots to make positive plays. He’s a capable three-point shooter and can get to the rim and finish. All and all, this was a solid day’s work but we think he’s capable of more this high school season. - Justin Young
Cameron Carrabus, CG, Evans, 2019: In the transition game, the Augusta area guard showed that he can get to the iron with speed and finished in and around traffic. The 6-foot guard is a capable shooter and was one of the better underclassmen at our Georgia Fall Preview. - Justin Young
AJ Hopkins, SG, Whitefield, 2020: A capable shooter, the 6-foot-3 wing has range out to 15 feet. He was vocal and showed signs of being a great teammate throughout the camp. That isn’t an easy thing to do for a young player. Hopkins showed his coachable skill in that regard. - Justin Young
Ahmir Langlais, F, Parkview, 2019: The long and athletic forward is a great run/jump big man that can make the jump shot out to 15 to 17 feet. He plays with great energy and relished in the opportunity to battle against other talented big men. I thought he was one of the top 10 players at the Elite Fall Preview. - Justin Young
Kendall Latney, SG, SG, Mill Creek, 2020: A solid defender with good length and size. He was good in transition and can get to the rim with the right-handed dribble and finish. - Justin Young
Brison Rockcliffe, PG, Lithonia, 2019: A quick guard that can handle the ball with both hands. He’s a good passer with good vision that is also a capable three-point shooter. - Justin Young
Terrell Sanders, SF, Greenforest Christian, 2019: A high motor man that competes hard. That was the quick note on the 6-foot-5 wing. He can shoot the three ball and is a great offensive rebounder. He must improve basketball IQ moving forward. - Justin Young
