Best of the Rest: Rowe ready to prove his value
If you watch Berkmar basketball this season, it is hard to miss big man Tim Rowe. The senior center is an imposing force. He's big, strong and good to the glass as a rebounder. The Patriots are 5-3 on the young season and Rowe is one of the reasons for the team's modest success.
The No. 19 ranked player in Georgia's senior class is playing with an extra sense of purpose this year. Simply put, he's playing for a scholarship and an opportunity to play at the next level.
"I was injured during the travel period so I only got to play the last week of it. I pretty much want to play the season out so colleges can get a good look at me," Rowe said.
Rowe said he has offers from Penn, Wichita State and South Alabama. He's taken one official visit to date and that was to Penn in the fall. The plan moving forward is to just play and let the recruiting cards fall where they may.
"I want to showcase what I have," Rowe said.
Rowe and the Patriots will host the Nike BMASP Holiday Hoops Classic after the Christmas break, tipping off on Dec. 26. The tournament will be a great platform to see more of the unsigned big man.
"I want to put my name out there," Rowe says, "and make a statement."
