Teddy Allen ready to be a WVU Mountaineer

Sitting tight the past few months on the recruiting front, West Virginia pounced today on a giant scorer of the basketball coming in the form of 6-foot-6 small forward Teddy Allen. The Boys Town High standout was one of the breakout performers this past July and landing the tough-nosed wing is a quality addition that should enable for a variety of lineups to be produced out onto the playing floor.

A tough and broad shouldered wing that is best with the basketball in his hands, while further on-court discipline and tweaking of the senior’s game is in order, the immediate impact out of the OSA Crusaders product is evident right off the bat. The will and desire to play on defense will immediately be instilled by Bob Huggins in Morgantown but asking for Allen to score the basketball won’t be much of an issue for the Arizona native.

Finishing out the month of July in Las Vegas, Allen put on a show with his polished yet broad scoring prowess. Whether it was on straight line drive attacks to the basket where he showed off deceptive athleticism off of his left foot, step-back jumpers from 22-feet, or on mid-range pull-ups, Allen sure can score the basketball. He also doesn’t have an issue playmaking for others when given the chance along with lending a hand on the glass.

The third commitment in the 2017 class, others such as DePaul, Nebraska-Omaha, and Cincinnati were among those in pursuit of high level offensive weapon. Allen, a top-125 recruit within his own right, now joins lead guard Brandon Knapper and top-100 recruit Derek Culver in creating a strong trio headed to Morgantown next fall.
