A super hard playing wing that that improved his ball skills and in the meantime, remained his same, consistent self on the playing floor, Dre Perry came to a final decision today as to where he will play out his college career. The 6-foot-5 small forward gave his word to Temple, giving the Owls two additions within a matter of 48 hours from 2017 class members.

Running with the Team Melo travel program this past summer, Perry saw his stock soar as he showed off the ability to playmake off of the high ball screen, was much more efficient in hitting jumpers from the mid-range region, and at the same time, displayed vast versatility and value as a defender capable of guarding multiple spots within the half-court setting.

Selecting Temple over the likes of USC, Virginia Tech, and Kansas State, it seems as if the attention that Fran Dunphy and his staff implemented into recruiting the Baltimore native paid off in the long run. Back in May, the AAC program had pushed heavily for the Team Melo product’s commitment and it was that attention and pursuance that won out.

It is that relationship with the head man of the program in Philadelphia that stood out with Perry. “Coach (Fran) Dunphy is a down to earth coach and me and Coach (Aaron) McKie created a strong relationship after Coach (Dwayne) Killings left and went to UConn,” the 6-foot-5 wing stated.

The third commitment in the 2017 class for Temple, Perry joins recently committed JP Moorman in creating a versatile, mix and match tandem that can play either forward spot in the frontcourt. The competitive duo is joined by Nate Pierre-Louis, a combo guard known for his scoring arsenal, in creating a strong, three member crop that will suit up at the AAC program next year.
