Things got a bit sweeter for the Butler Bulldogs today in looking ahead as to what could be from its 2017 class. Already holding a top-25 recruiting class nationally, Chris Holtmann and his crew in Indianapolis landed its biggest score of all, this one coming from Christian David, a 6-foot-6 playmaker by way of Canada.

Forced to sit out this past summer and now just getting fully healthy, David has remained under the radar to most, though with the schools that did pursue, their attention with him remained scolding hot. While Pitt and Creighton did its very best in fighting for the services of the top-100 guard, Butler won out at the end of the day.

A few weeks away from getting full clearances for on court activity, David is someone that leans his hat on his versatility and playmaking abilities. He brings ideal size to the backcourt where he can play all three spots on the perimeter and has the ball skills and feel for the game that enable the Vermont Academy product to shine in various ways.

David can be placed off of the ball as he can convert at a solid clip from beyond the arc, yet is skilled enough to execute the mismatch qualities that he presents as he can post up the smaller defender on the low block. A deceptively good athlete at the rim, the top-100 recruit is someone that flourishes best whenever the ball is placed into his hands. He uses his added size and height to see over the opposing defense and has the passing acumen in tow in making the proper pass from off of the drive to the basket.

The fourth commitment for the Butler Bulldogs from a 2017 class member, the name of the game for the Big East bunch is all about versatility and toughness. David joins Cooper Neese, a premier shooter of the ball, in the backcourt, along with two, super productive forwards in top-125 recruit Kyle Young and mix and match combo forward Jerald Butler.
