North Gwinnett picks up big win against Tucker

SUWANEE, GA - Ahmad Caver came out of the locker room, shoes off and left hand holding his lower back. The senior was dog tired. He earned the right to play the role of fatigued player. Caver pumped in a hard-earned 27 points in 71-59 win over Tucker High School on Monday night.

Caver emptied the tank in a game that turned into small ball for North Gwinnett. He scored a good amount of his points at the rim and the foul line but more importantly he hit key buckets to cool down any surging Tucker run.

"We got to run and push the tempo," Caver said. "We knew that Tucker would play an uptempo style and that would suit us well."

Caver was right.

When he needed to get to the rim, he did. When North Gwinnett needed to get a three-point shot, he drilled one.

As usual, it was a balanced scoring effort from the Bulldogs as Kam Calhoun scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Tobias Howard added 13 in the win. Owen Lewis scored nine.

Tucker was paced by Jon Dunmeyer's 15 points while T.J. Thomas added 12 points. Shembari Phillips scored 11 points in the defeat.
