The month of August has been a good one for the staff at Florida State and after receiving the commitments of two in-state prospects in RaiQuan Gray and Anthony Polite, the ACC bunch struck again, this time in the form of 6-foot-7 forward Wyatt Wilkes.

A major match-up issue, just like the aforementioned Gray and Polite, Wilkes is a guy that has become known throughout the southeast with his ability to put the ball through the basket. Running with the CP25 SE Elite crew this past spring and summer, the engaging forward showed off a much improved intermediate game while also displaying a greater willingness to playmake within the half-court setting.

The grandson of legendary Stetson head coach Glenn Wilkes, the senior forward had been tracked heavily by the likes of Creighton, Butler, and Georgia Tech. However, remaining in the state and playing for the ACC program was difficult to say no to.

While suffering through in injury during the middle portions of his final year on the travel circuit, Wilkes was still capable of displaying his entire skillset against the very best in July. A very outgoing personality on and off the floor, the Winter Park High star should be known for his shot making skills from deep, broad skillset as a point-forward type when given the chance, and a guy that can put the ball through the basket with the best of them.

The fourth commitment in the 2017 class and the third top-125 recruit headed to Tallahassee next fall, Florida State now sits within the top-10 of the 2017 HoopSeen Team Rankings. A foursome of Wilkes, Gray, Polite, and 6-foot-2 defensive piece, Bryan Trimble, check a lot of the boxes for Leonard Hamilton’s crew moving ahead.
