Top prospects at the CP3 Rising Stars camp, Part II
The CP3 Rising Stars camp was a terrific stage for us to get a peek at the class of 2020. The camp brought in players from all corners of the country and served as a starting point for the freshmen class to start their high school careers off. We look back at the top overall prospects from the event.
Leesburg, VA
Jeremy Roach, 6-2, Leesburg, VA: When it came to getting buckets, the explosive guard from the DMV was one of the very best at the camp. Headed to Virginia powerhouse Paul VI, Roach showed why many that cover the younger prospects are so high on him. His first step is explosive and his determination to get to the iron is high. Roach finished well and plays with a high-level of excitement. He’s a high-energy player that should be a name that joins the national conversation sooner than later.
Chatham, VA
Corey Walker, 6-6, Jacksonville, FL: When it came to flat out production, the young Floridian was one of the best players in the camp. There weren't a lot of players that wanted to win the rebounding battles in the event but Walker relished in it. He was the best rebounder in the event and one of the best scorers in the paint. Walker didn’t shy away on the defensive end of the floor either. The 6-foot-6 forward logged big minutes at both the wing and the post. Very impressive weekend from Walker.
Montclair, NJ
Elijah Hutchins-Everett, 6-8, Orange, NJ: Easily one of the best post players in the camp, the Jersey native showed why many in the Northeast are high on his future. Hutchins-Everett plays big and strong. He’s a tough guy in the post. When double-teamed, he was outstanding as a passer. His vision is outstanding. His hands are top-level and he was one of the best rebounders in the camp. Don’t be surprised to see his recruitment grow legs early. He’s one of the more unique players we’ve seen nationally in the 2020 class already.
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Scottie Barnes, 6-6, Fort Lauderdale, FL: Well, hello! The active and athletic forward from the Sunshine State was one of the nice breakout guys at the camp. He’s athletic, rangy, bouncy and always involved in a play. The hoop heads in Florida said he was a guy to watch and they were right. Barnes has the physical tools and the athleticism to bode well for his future at the highest level. Barnes came into the camp with a purpose and never took his foot off the gas. Big time first impression from him in this event.
Hockessin, DE
Jy’are Davis, 6-5, Hockessin, DE: Davis is a power wing that wins his one-on-one match-ups against guards and wings. He’s big enough to bang down low and win rebounding battles. Davis’s versatility was unique in this camp setting. Few with his size mastered the inside-outside combo better than he did. He has a game that has a lot of value to it and should have been counted among the top overall 20 players in the camp. We liked him even better than that. Don’t be surprised to see his name pop up more in the future.
