Devin Booker, the best available player still left on the board from the South, ended his recruitment on Thursday when he picked one of the premiere programs in the country.

The 6-foot-6 guard from Moss Point (Miss.) High School announced he would play for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats.

JUSTIN YOUNG'S TAKE: Booker is an interesting prospect for Kentucky. For starters, he can really score. The Wildcats have always had a guy that can fill it up from deep at the two guard spot. He joins Karl Towns, Jr., a versatile 7-foot-1 center from New Jersey, and Tyler Ulis, a speedy but small point guard from Chicago.

Booker, a composite top 25 national recruit in 2014, reminds me a lot of former Wildcat Jodie Meeks. Like the former Norcross guard, Booker isn't fancy but he's incredibly efficient and someone that can really pour it in from deep. Like Meeks, Booker isn't a jaw-dropping vertical athlete but more of a thining two guard that can drop 40 points on you without even blinking. Kentucky needs players like Booker. There's no telling what his short-term plans are, Booker could be in Lexington for longer than a season. And for UK, that's exactly what you want as you stock the shelves with future pro after future pro.

Booker could very well be a pro, in time. For now, he could be a major scorer for the Wildcats and a guy that could have a career path much like Meeks, one of the best scorers the Wildcats have seen over the last 20 years.
