Council to wait to sign
As the early signing period quickly approaches, Northern Durham (N.C.) wing Ricky Council is going the opposite direction of his peers. The 6-foot-4 athletic senior isn't winding his recruitment down. No, he's looking to open things back up.
"I'm going to sign late," Council said at the Phenom 150 camp in Greensboro, N.C. last weekend. "I'm going to see if anything comes about."
Council officially visited Appalachian State and UNC Wilmington and had interest in Florida International but things could go back to start.
Council, who has a 3.7 grade point average, is willing to listen to all comers. Council said he won't take any more visits this fall and will play out the high school season.
"I'm open," Council, the No. 5 ranked senior in North Carolina by Phenom Hoop Report, said.
Schools looking for an athletic wing should make the trek to Durham to see him. Why? Council is one of the more athletic wings still available. He can score, can handle and has the body and mentality to develop into a quality defender.
