Top five risers within the updated 2017 HoopSeen Rankings

The newest installment of the 2017 HoopSeen national rankings has plenty of new names on the list, as well as several notable risers after productive showings during the spring. Here’s five players who made the most of their opportunities during April and May and helped boost their stocks…

Mitchell Robinson, C, Pro Skills: Robinson stormed onto the national radar last summer at Peach Jam with the Alabama Challenge. After a stellar bring with Nike Pro Skills, the 7-foot center made a huge splash in the 2017 rankings, jumping from 21 spots from 32 to 11.

Robinson, a former Texas A&M commit, sports an enormous wingspan and elite athleticism for a player his size. He has talented defensive instincts, as he is an elite rim protector and shot-blocker. He ended the Nike EYBL season leading the league in blocks at 4.1 per game. He also finished second in rebounding at 11.6 boards per game. While he made a big jump to No. 11, Robinson may not be finished. He has unlimited upside and his best basketball is ahead of him.

Jaren Jackson, PF, Spiece Indy Heat: In a matter of a year, 2017 Park Tudor (IN) combo forward Jaren Jackson has gone from virtual unknown to priority recruit for high-major programs. With some impressive performances over the course of the spring, the 6-foot-9 athlete jumps up 40 spots to No. 26 on our board.

Jackson took off this spring, averaging 17.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game on the EYBL circuit. He has length, size, and athleticism and can play both forward spots. His versatility and high ceiling is something to track going forward. Jackson has proved he is a reliable threat for behind the arc, but he is also more than capable of scoring at the rim, too.

Jermaine Samuels, SF, Expressions: Samuels had a solid showing in Atlanta this past weekend with the Expressions. The 6-foot-6 wing is competitive on the court and oozes with intensity, but he brings the ability to score the basketball, too. He showed he is capable of scoring from all three levels and putting up points in a hurry.

Samuels rises 33 spots from 65 to 32 in the updated rankings. The talented scorer has been a top priority for schools in the Northeast, but he is becoming a national recruit, too. As a big wing that can score, pass, rebound, and defend, there is value for him at the next level. UConn and Villanova are heavily involved, but expect other top programs to begin to knock on the door.

Chaundee Brown, SG, Nike South Beach: Brown had a dominant weekend in Atlanta for the final EYBL stop, and that’s not surprising. The 6-foot-5 wing has consistently produced inside the doors of Suwanee Sports Academy. He was so impressive over the weekend that he earned an invitation to the U-18 Team USA Training Camp this summer. He’s obviously trending in the right direction.

Brown, a powerful wing, makes the move from 72 to 35 in the updated rankings. With his size, motor, and mentality, Brown is a constant producer all over the floor. He’s a tough guy that will be successful at the next level. The Florida native has been raking in some big offers, and he’s not finished yet.

Jordan Tucker, SF, New York Rens: Tucker has solidified himself as a national top 50 recruit over the past year. In this rankings update, he jumps up to No. 45 after previously being ranked No. 85.

Tucker, a 6-foot-6 wing, is a skilled shooter and sniper from behind the three-point line. With his size and perimeter shooting, he translates well to the next level. He can shoot off the dribble or off the catch, as he is regarded as a well-wired scorer nationally.
