Georgia Cup IV Championships: High School Divisions

17U: HEAT CHECK 62, SPORTS ACADEMY SOUTH 58

Shamar Barrett netted 18 points and Deontae Carter scored 15 but it wasn’t enough to overcome Heat Check’s balanced attack.

Cole Guenther scored a team-high 15 points, highlighted by his 11 in the fourth quarter including three timely threes.

Jalen Hayes added 12 points, Dylan Orr pitched in 11 and Zach Pina provided 10.

16U BLACK: GEORGIA JAZZ 72, TEAM STRONG 71

The 10th grade Black Bracket championship of the fourth installment of the Georgia Cup came down to two teams with great size and athleticism: Team Strong and Georgia Jazz.

Team Strong came out of the gates on their game, beginning with a 16-2 run. Cody Boyd charged the run with his outside shooting.

However, the Georgia Jazz chipped away at the lead with their full court pressure defense. Their continuous fight pulled them into a tie at 62 with over a minute left to play, a tie which eventually led to overtime.

In the overtime, Team Strong took a lead behind a strong overtime from Marquis Smith. However, in the last seconds of the game, Jazz guard Keivazray Ball hit a game winning shot for the Jazz to win 72-71. Ball led the Jazz with 17 points while Jackson Bailey led Team Strong with 20 in the loss.

16U ORANGE: MIDDLE GEORGIA SUPERSONICS 64, GEORGIA BULLS 61

Two of the best teams all weekend were pitted against each other in the finals of the 10th grade Orange Bracket, the Middle Georgia Supersonics and the Georgia Bulls.
