Offers trickle in for RaiQuan Gray
A major stock booster from the first live period over the weekend, RaiQuan Gray has become a highly thought of prospect out of the Sunshine State. Bringing ideal physical tangibles to the floor standing at 6-foot-8 and with the brute strength of an ox, the Florida Vipers product showed off a vast array of ball skills in New York as a jumbo play maker out of the power forward spot.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Gray first saw his recruitment pick up steam during the winter months of his junior high school season. The so-called ‘guy’ for his Dillard High bunch, Gray definitely passes the looks test of a high-level recruit where his skillset takes things a bit further. Best facing the basket, the rising senior can create for himself on the hard right handed drive to the basket, stretch the defense out with the perimeter jumper, but is most comfortable displaying his impressive vision and passing skills on the drive to the cup.
Coming into April, Gray held offers from Kansas State, Virginia Tech, FGCU, UAB, and FIU. Others such as Rutgers, Auburn, and Ole Miss have also jumped into the party with an offer where it seems that the upward trajectory in the talented forward’s recruitment has yet to hit its ceiling.
“Kansas State and Virginia Tech,” Gray stated on those coming at him the hardest. On Tuesday, the Hokies came in and for an in-home visit, a trip that went fairly well on all accounts. “It was great,” the Vipers star said. “They kept it real and down to earth.”
Furthermore, in-home visits are planned for today as UAB is expected in this afternoon, followed by Rutgers in the evening. When asked on what specifically the 6-foot-8 forward is looking for in a program, Gray was fairly direct. “I just want a place that the guys play hard and play fast,” the Sunshine State native said.
Expect for Gray’s stock to continue to heat up as one of the best prospects and more unique ones, at that, from out of the southeast within the current junior class.
