Davidson set to host Kellan Grady
The talk within the basketball realm over the past few years has surrounded around Steph Curry and his utterly destructive skillset that can destroy an opponent at a blink of an eye. Kellan Grady, a 6-foot-4 guard with similar mannerisms, physical makeup, and skillset compared to the current NBA MVP, will take his first official visit this weekend to Curry’s alma mater, Davidson College.

Grady, the number-42 ranked prospect within the HoopSeen 2017 Rankings, put together a fabulous season this past winter at Northfield Mount Hermon. Boasting tons of quality prospects for the years ahead, the junior guard was given the reins to the team from the get-go. He made Coach John Carroll look like a genius as he helped guide the program to another NEPSAC title during his first year on campus through his distributing, hustle, and scoring within the half-court setting.
Where the smooth guard excels is in high ball screen situations. His quality feel for the game, passing skills, and scoring prowess as he can hit on stepback jumpers from deep, yet also nail either handed runners in the lane, makes Grady one of the more polished, high upside juniors throughout the land. While strength gain is a need moving ahead, the Massachusetts native brings a super mature approach to the hardwood, great size for his spot on the floor, along with the ability to play on and off the ball, all of which has made him a priority recruit for those involved.
Hearing primarily from Villanova, Northwestern, Butler, and Davidson, Grady will take a visit to the A10 program this weekend for his first official visit. “I love the coaches,” the NMH junior said about the Davidson staff, a group that last hosted the productive play maker back in October, and one coming in the unofficial variety.
Running with the New England Playaz this summer, a commitment could occur early or late, though he does have a decent feel for what he is looking for in a college destination. “Academics, coaches, opportunity to play right away, the system and offense, and location,” Grady told HoopSeen.
A relative unknown for the majority of the nation, Grady should blossom this summer as a national level recruit due to his versatility in the backcourt and his ability to make all of the right plays against various types of defenses.
