No. 4 Wheeler 64, Wesleyan Christian (NC) 58: The Wildcats hung on in the City of Palms Classic and did something that Lithonia and Jonesboro couldn’t do: beat Wesleyan Christian Academy. Darius Perry and Al-Wajid Aminu carried the load with 18 points apiece in the victory. Perry recorded six rebounds and four assists while Aminu grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots. Romello White added 13 points and six rebounds. WCA received 19 points and six rebounds from Brandon Childress and 16 points and seven rebounds from David Caraher.
No. 5 Tift County 74, Coffee 60: Tift County remained undefeated with a ho-hum win over Coffee in front of a packed house. Preston Horne scored a team-high 26 points while Tyrie Jackson added 14. Micah Johnson chipped in 10 in the win.
No. 6 Lambert 90, West Forsyth 35: The Longhorns rolled the Wolverines with ease. Connor Mannion posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Tanner Hall scored 10 points.
Woodstock 62, Etowah 58: In the 2015 edition of the Battle of Towne Lake, the Wolverines came back from down 11 to dump their crosstown rivals. Ryan Grigsby scored all of his 18 points in the first half for the Eagles before the Wolverines clamped down. Tyreke Johnson led Woodstock with 14 points and five assists while Zack Wallace netted nine. Both Henry Ruff and Brant Hurter scored eight points and Marcus Foo chipped in seven.
Central Gwinnett 62, Peachtree Ridge 60: The Black Knights picked up a much needed road victory against Gwinnett County foe Peachtree Ridge. Jalen Hillery had a big night with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Northview 60, Habersham Central 49: Garrett Stewart led the way with 21 points for the Titans. Jeremiah Shields caught fire from deep, hitting five three-pointers en route to 18 points.
Lee County 64, Terrell County 35: Jalin Wimberly scored 14 points to lead the Trojans while the Green Wave rode 12 points from DeTravion Bishop in the loss.
No. 3 McIntosh 71, Spartanburg (SC) 52: McIntosh used a balanced attack to dispatch of Spartanburg. Will Washington led the way with 13 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Chase Walter scored 10 points, snagged 11 rebounds and blocked four shots while Dishon Lowery finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks of his own. Jordan Lyons netted 10 points and is now just a few points away from becoming McIntosh’s all-time leading scorer in the boys program.
No. 4 Allatoona 65, South Paulding 46: Three players scored in double figures to balloon Allatoona’s region win streak up to 62 games. Trey Doomes scored 18 points and posted five rebounds. Ephraim Tshimanga finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals. TJ Goodrum stepped up with 12 points and sophomore Roland Wooden added nine points and took three charges, which all came against either Kane Williams or Ja’Cori Wilson. Williams scored 16 and Wilson, 11, for the Spartans. Williams also added seven rebounds in the loss. Anthony Brown contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
No. 5 Cedar Shoals 69, Lanier 36: Phlan Fleming had one of his best games of the season with 18 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to lead the Jaguar charge. Stavion Stevenson and Jerrick Mitchell scored nine and eight points respectively. Mitchell also recorded seven assists.
No. 6 Heritage-Conyers 68, Apalachee 59: A spread out attack was too much for the one man show of Kamar Baldwin. Five players scored in double figures for the Patriots led by Charles Moore’s 17. Jordan Thomas (16), Isaiah Banks (12), Makyle Wilkerson (11) and Byron Abrams (10) all played well. Apalachee received 38 points, 11 rebounds and six steals in the loss from Baldwin.
No. 8 LaGrange 62, Troup County 44: The Grangers spread the wealth around and came up with another region win. Kenan Gray netted a team-high 11 points. Rico Smith and Qua Epps both scored 10 points. LaPerion Perry finished with nine.
No. 10 Southwest DeKalb 76, New Manchester 63: Keith Gilmore scored 19 and Darius Hogan chipped in 16 to lead the Panthers past New Manchester. TiQuan Lewis finished with 15 points.
Houston County 67, Bleckley County 58: Amari Colbert erupted for 27 points and six rebounds in the opening round win at the Bear Brawl. Kolbey Singleton finished with 11 points and five rebounds. For Bleckley, both Torenio Davis and Willie Taylor finished with 13 points.
Grovetown 67, Harlem 60: In the loss, Kanez Dunn of Harlem scored a game-high 31 points.
