Jay Jay Chandler continues to lead and produce

Jay Jay Chandler, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Cinco Ranch High School in Texas, has put together giant performances on the hardwood and is primed for a monstrous summer on the travel circuit. In the meantime, the top-50 recruit has been able to get looks at some of the local college programs and HoopSeen was able to catch up with his father in learning his latest.

With the playoffs on tap throughout the nation, Chandler has his Cinco Ranch bunch on solid footing moving ahead. In his team’s first round win, the quality play maker finished with 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the nine point victory.

What makes Chandler unique compared to his other peers within the 2017 class is how well-rounded he is. The product of the Houston Hoops travel program can convert from off the catch when placed off of the ball, yet is best served with the rock in his hands. He has an elite first step, explodes to the basket for the highlight jam, but is no slouch on the other end of the floor as he can lock up his man on the perimeter and also play the passing lanes appropriately.

Last weekend, with the Kentucky Wildcats in town, Chandler and his father visited Texas A&M, a trip that went as well as planned. “We got to see a great game. We had great seats and were able to see and talk to who they’re recruiting,” John Chandler stated about the few hours spent in College Station. “We had a great talk with Coach Kennedy and chat with the assistants for a little while. It turned out to be a really nice and easy visit.”

Heading off to Texas on Saturday for the Longhorns battle with Oklahoma, the top-50 guard, who holds offers from the likes of UConn, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, SMU, and Virginia Tech,  seems to be on the right track for a priority recruitment in the coming months for those even outside of his geographical niche in becoming a national-level recruit.
