A program stands out with Tyson Ward

Programs continue to show interest with the intriguing and skilled Tyson Ward. A 6-foot-4 guard for the Tampa Prep program, has yet to fill out entirely just yet and could have three more inches left in him until he taps out, but the ball skills, shot making abilities, along with his feel for the game provide college programs looking for a late year nab worth the watch.

Running things for the Tampa Prep program after Juwan Durham, a top-25 recruit and UConn signee, went down earlier in the year with an ACL injury and was lost for his entire senior campaign, Ward has stepped in admirably. After watching the Sunshine State product miss a triple-double by one assist last month, colleges have come calling for him.

Just last night, Charleston Southern joined the fray by offering the product of the Q6 All-Stars program. They join such others as Florida Southern, Belmont Abbey, Florida A&M, and Coastal Carolina that have already done so. Niagara is expected in tonight for him and an offer from the MAAC program wouldn’t be all that surprising.

However, there is one program that has not offered but already seems to be out in front with him as he hopes to give his first official visit to them. “North Dakota State,” Ward said, “They’re a great school. They’re just telling me that I would fit well in the program.”

While NDSU may be a long haul from the local confines of Tampa, Florida, it does seem that the Summit League program could be seen as a favorite for the guard’s signature, depending of course on whether they decide to make the scholarship offer official or not.
