Matt Bullock continues to lead and produce
Now with the high school playoffs upon us for the majority of the nation, seniors are seeing their last chances at adding to their own respective resumes dwindle. This past weekend and at the Primetime Shootout, the host Roselle Catholic squad knocked off the mighty Huntington Prep bunch before heading off into postseason play. One ballplayer who continues to produce and also lead his talented Roselle Catholic team is none other than 6-foot-4 wing Matt Bullock.
Every college program wants the high flyer that looks the part and has the high ceiling that could lead their team to success in the years ahead. While Bullock may look like he is more ready to suit on the gridiron next year compared to the hardwood, watch closely and the Jersey native brings a lot to the floor.
A four year guy at the uber-successful Roselle Catholic High School, the coaching staff at the Jersey program has leaned heavily on Bullock and on each side of the ball. He received the duties of guarding five-star Michigan State signee Miles Bridges on the defensive end as Bullock didn’t back down from the opportunity as he guarded the forward the best that he could and was always involved for the 50-50 play.
On the offensive side of the floor, Bullock brings very deceptive but impressive explosion to the basket as he can finish with highlight dunks and with either hand. Throw in his ability to hit the catch and shoot jumper from deep and also put it on the floor and nail the mid-range jumper and there is a lot of value with the highly productive two-way senior wing.
If you are just reading this and have never seen Bullock play, you would figure that he would be entrenched in a quality, college recruitment. However, this is far from the case. The product of the Sports U travel program has been critiqued too heavily due to the looks test and his questionable defensive prowess, which seems as if it might be an opt-out after seeing what he did on Sunday against one of the more talented teams from across the nation.
“Monmouth offered me during my sophomore year but I haven’t heard from them since the summer,” Bullock told HoopSeen about his only offer thus far. “Wagner is showing me some interest but they haven’t offered me.”
A 6-foot-4 wing that can create for himself and others, a guy that competes on both ends, and plans on engineering in college seems like the ideal college recruit, especially late in the year. Whoever does decide to jump in and pursue Bullock will not only receive the complete package as a student-athlete but also a four-year winner and someone that will buy in from day one on campus.
