Westlake wins Region 3-AAAAAA

Over the last couple of years, region 3-AAAAAA has been one of Georgia’s toughest regions.

Last year, Pebblebrook took the region and they were in the championship game again this year against a very strong Westlake team that has been atop of the HoopSeen Power Poll at times this year.

Pebblebrook came out in the first half firing on all cylinders. Combo guard Collin Sexton, who has been one of the hottest prospects in the nation, scored 14 first half points, with Auburn commit Jared Harper adding 12 in the half.

However, the second half was a completely different story.

Westlake looked like a team that could be the favorites to win the AAAAAA state title, manhandling the Falcons behind very strong second half performances from sophomore point guard Jamie Lewis and junior forward Chuma Okeke.

Westlake started the second half on a 16-0 run and never looked back, winning the game and the region title by a score of 79-57.

Jamie Lewis led the Lions with 24 points with Chuma Okeke adding 21 points of his own.

However, the difference makers were seniors Ronald Bell and Raquan Wilkins, who took a lot of the responsibility in defending the Pebblebrook duo of Harper and Sexton, making them work hard for their points. Wilkins also scored 14 points in the game in a very good performance.

In the loss for Pebblebrook, Collin Sexton led the way with 24 points, and Jared Harper scored 23 points.
