Silvio DeSousa...Reign Man 2.0
One of the best and most explosive prospects in the high school ranks continues to make giant strides with his game. Silvio DeSousa, a 6-foot-8, mammoth of an athlete at the basket, may not be the headlining name for the Montverde Academy bunch, yet that speaks more to just how talented his team really is. Suiting up alongside several other four and five-star prospects in the frontcourt alone, DeSousa is an immediate producer any time that is placed out onto the floor and because of it, has become a fan favorite since making America his home.
It was January 18, 2015, where DeSousa made his way over to the United States by way of his native Angola. The sophomore forward has now developed some of his ball skills within the face-up variety as he can shoot the fluid 17-foot jumper, lead the break off the defensive rebound, and also handle the ball some on the breakdown and finish at the rim. With shades of a younger Amare Stoudemire to him, DeSousa is a beast amongst boys and a tenacious rebounder, thus making him arguably one of the top-five sophomores in the nation.
A product of the Each 1 Teach 1 program, we were able to catch up with DeSousa over the weekend and get his feelings on how his first full high school season has gone thus far. “It has been good. It is going to take a lot of work to continue to win this season,” the sophomore said. “We are just going to try to win against any of the competition we face.”
While at any other program, the offense would entirely revolve around the 6-foot-8 producer, yet at Montverde, DeSousa has bought into his role an energy giver off the bench. “If I don’t work, I won’t get anything. I just want to help my teammates in any way possible,” he told HoopSeen. When asked on whom he patterns his game after, the first response was understandable but the second couldn’t be more spot on. “I watch a lot of LeBron James and also Shawn Kemp.”
DeSousa will be able to practically choose any program that he might want to play for at the collegiate level and whether he becomes Reign Man 2.0 or not, the Montverde star is one of the best in America and also one of the most consistent producers in any given affair.
