Oshae Brissett ponders reclass; plans first official

Every few times a year, junior prospects decide the time is right, they get their respective academics in line, and decide to reclass a year up and enter the college ranks a year early. A Canadian forward who suits up for the mighty Findlay Prep program, is thinking of doing just that. Oshae Brissett, a multi-dimensional, 6-foot-9 forward, is pondering a possible move into the 2016 class, a decision that will occur either way this spring.

A native of Ontario, Brissett has been one of the better upside guys within his class for some time now. He is more mobile and agile than your typical 6-foot-9 guy and would much rather face-up and play on the perimeter than bang down low. Now, the Findlay Prep product has gotten much tougher and developed a meaner streak within the painted area and is someone who must be accounted for on the offensive glass.

With the look and build of Milwaukee Bucks star Jabari Parker, the intriguing junior has packed on a few pounds which has allowed for him to produce more often within the trenches. Still, the Canadian is best in hitting perimeter jumpers from off the catch, slashing and scoring off of the face-up move, and also defending various spots in the frontcourt.

With massive potential at his fingertips, there definitely is a decision that Brissett will have to make in the nearby future as to whether he wants to play college ball next year or not. There is no shortage of respectable programs on the hunt for him in either year. “USC, Oregon, Arizona State, Santa Clara, and Utah have all offered me and want me in 2016,” the versatile forward noted. “All of those schools and Oklahoma, UNLV, and Boston College have also offered me for 2017.”

However, there is one program that has stood out with him to date. “USC is on me the hardest,” Brissett said. “I am going to visit them the weekend that they play Utah.”

Heading off to the Pac 12 program on February 20, whichever year Brissett does decide upon, it does look like the Trojans may have the best shot of nailing done an impressive pick-up and adding him to an already commanding young frontcourt that includes Benny Boatwright and Chimezie Metu.
