The Northfield Mount Hermon crew definitely is not short on talent. This year especially, the prep bunch boasts such prospects as Penn commit AJ Brodeur, tough and gritty senior guard Ian Sistare, and mix and match junior forward Tomas Murphy. However, the cupboard is more than full with the younger classes and one of its finest comes with a freshman center as Max Lorca, a 6-foot-9 big man, is already knee-deep with his college recruitment.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Lorca made the transfer into the basketball powerhouse this past fall and it seems that the big man is already becoming comfortable with his new digs. “I really like it here,” Lorca told HoopSeen. “There is a great combination of academics and athletics here which I think is the perfect fit for me.”

While he has only played in ten of his team’s 15 contests thus far, the mobile and active freshman has bought into running the floor, remaining active within the interior, and changing shots near the basket. Outside of his energy exertions, there have been a few things that the NMH prospect has been working on. “A lot of strength and conditioning and I have been working on my mid-range shot a bit,” the freshman stated.

Planning on running with the PSA Cardinals bunch on the travel circuit this summer, the recruitment of the high upside big man is already hitting full steam. “I have been getting interest from Virginia, Stanford, St. John’s, Harvard, Yale, Villanova, UNC, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Rice,” the quality student in the classroom said. “Plus, I have offers from Penn State, Saint Peter’s, and Seton Hall.”

Now back as a member of the freshmen class, it would seem that before sooner or later, Lorca will become a highly magnified and prioritized recruit. Whether it is because of his active nature, giant upside, or grades in the classroom, offers may be expected from the best of programs nationally down the road.
