ACWORTH, GA – You couldn’t escape the question no matter where you went at the Lake City Classic.

“Did you see it?”

If you didn’t, you probably saw it before you went to bed on ESPN. Or when you woke up. Or when you scrolled through Twitter. Or Instagram. Or YouTube.

It was the Will Washington dunk. It was phenomenal. It had people talking.

But Washington’s day wasn’t defined just by the dunk. Not at all. It was a great accessory to an impressive day. The senior point guard from Peachtree City (GA) McIntosh High School was one of the key figures to his team’s 74-68 win over Milton. The win was the best game of opening day at the Wellstar Lake City Classic.

Washington, an unsigned senior, was one of the best players of the eight game slate on Monday. He finished with 21 points and six assists in the win. He banged home all three of his three-point attempts and set the tone early in the match-up with two of those triples coming in the opening minutes o the game.

“It felt good getting those early. We wanted to get set right away and out with 110 percent effort,” a confident Washington said after the game.

Teammates Dishon Lowery, a Wofford signee, and Jordan Lyons, a Furman signee, were able to see one-on-one coverages because of Washington’s production at the point. McIntosh was able to hold off a very good and deep Milton team down the stretch.

McIntosh won one of the brackets last season at the Lake City Classic and started the event strong on Monday night.

On the recruiting front Washington said he’s hearing from Austin Peay, Wofford and Kennesaw State at the moment. The top 25 Georgian is one of the better unsigned point guards in the Deep South at the moment.
