Blanton racking up the offers
Recruiting has picked up so much for Temarcus Blanton has to keep a running list on his phone to keep up with the schools that have offered a scholarship and the ones that are knocking on the door.
That's what happens when you play well during the live evaluation period. The 6-foot-4 wing from Luella (Ga.) High School has been the top player for the Atlanta XPress this spring and his recruitment mirrors that thought.
"I picked up a couple of good offers," Blanton said with a smile.
Memphis and Louisiana Tech are the two newest scholarship offers, joining a long list of others schools. Blanton said Mississippi State, Murray State, George Mason, Jacksonville, College of Charleston, Mercer, Appalachian State, Ole Miss and Georgia State have all tendered a free ride so far.
Florida State, Cincinnati, Arkansas, Xavier and South Carolina have all started calling, too. Georgia and Georgetown have made the trek to Luella to sneak a peek at him this spring.
The top 10 class of 2014 player from the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions said he wants to hit the road in June to George Mason and Mississippi State for unofficial visits unofficial visits.
"Those two are coming hard," Blanton said.
Schools are coming hard because he goes hard. The common theme amongst recruiters is this: We love his motor.
"It is all about effort," Blanton said. "The harder you go, the better results get. If you go hard, the rest of the team should go harder. Then the rest of the game becomes easier."
