D'Mitrik Trice re-establishes his recruitment
Travis Trice just finished up quite the four-year career at Michigan State in catapulting the Spartans to a Final Four appearance this past April. However, there is another Trice that is about to become a publicized name throughout the college ranks. D’Mitrik Trice, a 6-foot guard at IMG Academy now, decided it was best to prolong his high school career by taking a prep season at the Florida-based institution.
Lining up alongside top-10 forward and Florida State commit Jon Isaac this winter, Trice plans on using the heightened scale of playing the point guard spot at IMG and against a national schedule in furthering his college recruitment. “Things are starting to pick up here now and I am just working on make the interest turn into offers,” the Florida import stated.
A native of Ohio, Trice can do a multitude of things in the backcourt and while he has been known for being a scorer of the basketball, the competitive fifth-year point guard has become a much better facilitator and producer in the backcourt.
Speaking on offers from DePaul, Central Florida, and Old Dominion, no visits have been planned just yet and when asked on whether he would sign during the early period next week, the Buckeye State native seemed more than likely to wait until making things official next April.
Outside of the three offers in hand, the sturdy presence in the backcourt rattled off new interest coming from Minnesota, Wichita State, Butler, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, Seton Hall, and Drake, with the latter MVC program giving the greatest attention to him.
Still some time from a commitment, Trice did note on what he is looking for in a college home. “Definitely a good education that will mean something after basketball, but also have to love the players as well as the campus,” the competitive guard noted.
“I want a good sized campus and things to do when I’m not playing basketball. The big thing is a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament.”
Playing alongside an elite forward and a plethora of other supporting cast ballplayers this winter, expect to see a much more fluid and magnified recruitment with D’Mitrik Trice as the colder months descend upon northern portions of the United States.
