Charlie Moore updates his recruitment
One of the best point guards still left on the board in the 2016 class seems to be closing in on a decision, though no commitment date has been set just yet. Charlie Moore, a 6-foot guard from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, has taken three official visits and recently gave an update on his recruitment.
A tough, aggressive, and hard-playing guard who can score the ball in bunches via his long-range jumper, Moore shows off loads of value at the most important spot on the floor. Due to the lacking depth that is available at his particular position, along with his large talent base, Moore has seen a national recruitment.
After visiting California last weekend, the Windy City native gave his thoughts on the gist of his two-day stay out west. “It is a family atmosphere down there and I really enjoyed my time with the coaches and the players,” Moore noted.
“The Pac 12 is a great conference and they are just telling me to come in and replace Tyrone Wallace, who is a pro.”
The week prior, Moore headed to the 804 and took in the VCU campus and the Black and Gold Game, which is the Rams’ version of their own Midnight Madness.
“They have a great program that is definitely on the rise with Coach Wade and Coach Jamill Jones. They have amazing facilities,” the senior lead guard said.
“Their fan base is great and it’s one of the best in the country and I definitely fit in their up-tempo system and in getting after it on the defensive end.”
Moore took his first official visit to Memphis at the beginning of October and felt at home with the campus and coaches. “They have a great coaching staff and I am trying to do the same things that Coach Damon Stoudamire did by playing in the NBA,” the Morgan Park star told HoopSeen.
“Coach Pastner keeps you balanced and they just want me to come in and make an immediate impact on a top-15 team.”
While Moore still has two more official visits that he could take, the 6-foot floor general addressed the issue of signing next week during the early period, or holding off until April. “I am not sure. I can sign early but I can also sign late. I am not sure what I am going to do.”
Regardless, when the time does come for Moore to commit, the coaching staff at California, VCU, and Memphis should be ecstatic in receiving an immediate and sturdy presence in the backcourt that can make others better, but also score the basketball in many ways.
