Fall Preview Spotlight: Al Durham
This past Saturday at the Fall Preview, it was a 6-foot-3 guard that got the day going with his explosive dunks on the break, playmaking in the open floor, and outside shot making skills that made a giant statement on his way to being a top performer in Suwanee. Al Durham, a standout guard at Berkmar High School, has already received a solid college recruitment and he backed it all up displaying an improving set of ball skills in the backcourt of the floor.
Born in Buffalo, New York before moving to the Peach State when he was five years old, Durham has settled in nicely in the southeast as a productive ballplayer with the ball in his hands. He can create for himself off the bounce, make pinpoint passes off the perimeter, and has gotten better at scoring the ball at all three levels on the floor. While he does have to continue to show that he can be a lead guard and also add further strength, Durham displayed the upside that should make him a followed recruit next spring and summer.
“South Florida, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Florida, Louisiana Tech, Rhode Island, Georgia Tech, and Georgia have all offered.” While the level of offers that have come in for Durham is nothing to bat your eyes at, due to Durham’s quality academics in the classroom, he also spoke on further interest from the likes of Harvard and Yale.
After recently taking a visit to Georgia a few weeks back for a football game, things are still some time away from any sort of commitment from occurring, but it does seem that Durham is destined for a priority recruitment from many of the top high-major programs down in the southeast corridor.
