Recruitment begins for Austin Boucher

At the Indy Top 80, the Phenom Hoops crew brought in a load of talent from all levels of play. Some were known, others were trying to further cement themselves as college worthy prospects, and a few others were already committed recruits and were competing for the thrill of the game. With little known about him heading into Saturday but with plenty of intrigue leaving it, Austin Boucher supplanted himself as a capable high-major prospect within the 2018 class.

Playing up this past travel season with the Spiece Indy Heat 16-under squad, Boucher shows off a mature skillset that enabled for him to have a quality summer while going up against competitors that may have been older, taller, and stronger. However, the 6-foot-1 guard plays with no fear on the floor and is the epitome of an entertaining playmaker.

With superior length, toughness, and versatility on both ends of the floor, it isn’t hard to see the long-term value out of the product of Fort Wayne South Side High School. He can shoot the ball and convert from all three levels on the floor and has the vision and feel for the game in creating for others off of the dribble-drive. However, the most impressive asset of Boucher’s game is in his ability to slice to the basket and throw one down on any type of opponent, big or small.

On the recruiting front, no offers have been received just yet. That doesn’t mean schools aren’t showing interest where IPFW, a place that his brother is currently a manager at on the men’s squad, Michigan, Illinois, Dayton, Xavier, Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana, and Indiana State have all inquired about the two-way ballplayer.

With giant grades in the classroom as he carries a 4.0 GPA, Boucher seems to be someone that will bring the entire package of being a student-athlete to any college that he calls home in a few years.

Heading to Michigan this Saturday, October 10, and then venturing off to Indiana’s Hoosier Hysteria at the end of the month, while things are just about to begin with Austin Boucher, don’t be surprised once he becomes a Big 10 priority recruit within his respective 2018 recruiting class.
