Two schools sticking out to Parrish

2016 Arlington (TX) Seguin wing Josh Parrish is known in the state of Texas for his physicality and ability to finish at the rim. While his shooting needs some touch, several in-state schools and a couple of out-of-state programs are looking to garner his commitment.

I have offers from Arkansas, VCU, TCU, Fresno State, Rice, and SMU,” Parrish told HoopSeen.com. “Texas is also very interested. They said it’s a high chance they’ll offer soon, so I think it could come later.”

For now, the 6-foot-4 wing is carrying on with the schools that have offered. Two schools have made their presence known in his recruitment so far.

“TCU and VCU are recruiting me the hardest.”

Both schools have hosted Parrish for official visits over the past few weeks. With no other visits planned, many see those two schools as the two programs to beat in his recruitment. Parrish visited VCU during the last week of August.

“VCU was real nice. I loved the atmosphere up there and the city was real nice. I was impressed with the overall school, and I loved how Coach Will Wade conducted his workouts. I had a great time up there.

“VCU has pretty good academics. The atmosphere is great and the fan support is crazy! They’ve made the tournament five out of the last six years and they’re a winning program, so that’s a plus,” he explained.

Parrish made the short trip to TCU for an official visit this past weekend. Trent Johnson and his staff have pitched to him the ability to represent his state and stay close to home.

“TCU was really nice too. I was impressed with the school as a whole. I loved the facilities and the atmosphere there. Plus, I loved the way Coach [Trent] Johnson and the staff handled their workouts. It was a great visit, no doubt.”

“TCU has great academics, a basketball team that’s on the rise, and it’s fairly close to where I live. The atmosphere is great and there is a lot of support within the school,” he said.

Despite both TCU and VCU appearing to be in the driver’s seat, Parrish isn’t rushing his college decision. He sees his recruitment taking a little bit longer.

“Probably around early-mid November,” he said when asked of his timetable.
