E1T1 Showcase: Top Performers
The Each 1 Teach 1 Showcase brought in some of the best talent throughout the Sunshine State on Saturday. The state sure isn’t lacking in talent in the coming years and while there were a number of kids that have already established themselves as quality college recruits, there were others that enhanced their resumes during their time in Tampa. However, it was a notable group of five that really stood out amongst their peers, headlined by Darius Days, a 2018 forward out of The Rock School, that was the best performer out of everyone that laced up their shoes during the one-day event.
Andres Feliz, CG, West Oaks Academy, 2016: Headed to South Florida next year, while many believe that Troy Baxter is one of the biggest steals in the 2016 class where the 6-foot-8 forward is also headed to USF, Feliz sure isn’t too far behind when it comes to finding a potential early producer next winter. Feliz is a tough guard who can play both on and off the ball but really is at his best in putting the rock through the goal. He is a microwave-type who can score it in bunches and can be leaned upon early on during his time in Tampa next year. Feliz had a great showing over the weekend and was one of the best all-around prospects we saw all day long.
David Nickelberry, SF, Windermere Prep, 2017: There sure is a lot to like with a guy that stands above the 6-foot-6 marking and can pass the ball as well as Nickelberry. Actually, the junior wing may have been the best passer I saw all day long at the E1T1 Showcase event where he led the floor like a lead guard, passed it like one in the half-court setting, and was all about making others better. The Windermere Prep distributor can also hit off the bounce from deep but he does have to get a better sense of when to take his shots. However, it is hard to argue with his passing skills as the lefty can make pinpoint passes in various settings and because of it, should be an intriguing, unique wing-forward recruit in the 2017 class down south.
Emmitt Williams, PF, Lehigh High School, 2018: I never saw Kenneth Faried during his underclassman years in high school but if I could imagine what he might have looked like, Emmitt Williams would be his direct reflection. The long-armed, super athletic forward sports the orange fro-hawk and competes like he is in a hard-fought battle each time out. Although a bit undersized at this stage, Williams does have to further his ball skills but when it comes to cleaning the glass, throwing down highlight jams, or defending various spots the floor, there just aren’t many better at this stage than the sophomore forward out of Lehigh High.
Darius Days, SF, The Rock School, 2018: The breakout star in Tampa over the weekend, the 6-foot-6 forward can practically do it all on the floor as the long and active sophomore has the motor that was hard to be touched by anyone that he went up against. Add in his impeccable handles where he catches any and everything thrown to him and what you have is a promising college prospect More of a 3-man but able to be played at either frontcourt spot, Days likes to attack his man off the first step out atop of the key and has the length to get to the basket off of limited dribbles before exploding to the rim for the highlight jam. He is a major pest on the offense glass and with literally no colleges involved just yet with The Rock School forward, expect Days to breakout any day now where he has the looks of a potential top-100 guy within his class.
Emmanuel Adedoyin, PG/SG, Oak Ridge High School, 2019: The lanky and wiry guard has everything that it might take to a be a high-level recruit one day soon. While he is far from growing fully into his body and frame just yet, the pace that Adedoyin plays at is off the charts. He can play either spot in the backcourt and is best as a scorer where he can absolutely fill it up in a blink of an eye. Whether it is on the slice to the basket, the converted mid-range pull-up, or the off the catch jumper, the sleeper out of Oak RIdge is due to see his stock explode in the coming years as the talented combo guard has what it takes to be productive at the higher levels.
