Javin DeLaurier sets Duke visit
There is another target for the Duke Blue Devils in the 2016 class. After grabbing ahold out of a commitment from Frank Jackson, a five-star guard from Utah on Tuesday evening, things are beginning to shape up for the ACC program in locking down another elite class. Jayson Tatum, a five-star wing, is already in the hopper, and Coach K and his crew is heavily involved with Harry Giles, Wenyen Gabriel, and Marques Bolden. All three play in the frontcourt and while they might not be able to land all three and getting two would be quite the haul, another senior forward has set a date to visit the campus officially next month.
One of the fastest rising big men in America this past summer, Javin DeLaurier brings a mix of high level academics, an evolving and progressing skillset, and a well-oiled motor that allows for him to impact any given contest. Standing at 6-foot-8 and with long arms and an improving face-up jumper, the St. Anne’s Bellfield School forward has received a priority recruitment from a mixture of high level basketball programs and high level academic schools. He visits Notre Dame this weekend and has four in all set in stone.
Notre Dame: September 4-6
Texas: September 11-13
Stanford: October 3-5
Duke: October 23-25
It will be interesting to see where things lead to next as there have been whispers of Duke’s interest in him until now, but it seems that the interest is beginning to gain steam since most staffs usually doesn’t bring in recruits onto campus that they aren’t serious about, especially with the small circle of recruits that Coach K and his crew chase after.
