Jalen McDaniels set to visit San Diego State

One of the major stock boosters this past July, it was Jalen McDaniels who quickly became quite the commodity recruit on the west coast. Standing at 6-foot-8 but lacking the ideal strength in order to handle greater physicality on the floor, the Washington native still didn’t relent against contact as he boasted the upside that many of the top programs near him might be looking for.

Running with the Seattle Rotary crew this past summer on the Nike circuit, the season might not have been the most successful for him and his squad, but McDaniels was still able to end things on a solid note. After shooting close to 50% from the field, and per-32 minutes, averaging over 12 points and nine rebounds per game, the Federal Way High product had several moments in Las Vegas in July that brought in such offers from programs like Washington, San Diego State, Arizona State, Rice, and San Diego.

Now being able to relax some and figure out where his recruitment stands, McDaniels has set up his first official visit for this weekend, which will lead him to San Diego State. With nothing further is lined up, the Rotary forward did mention what else could lie ahead. “Texas wants to set up a visit and so does Washington and Arizona State.”

While he has not narrowed down things to a cut list, McDaniels noted that he is primarily being recruited by the four aforementioned programs the hardest and likes what they all are telling him. “They are saying that I would fit perfectly with their program and that they can see me coming in and being an impact to the program.”

“Texas is telling me that they have two seniors that are leaving and it would be perfect for me to come in.”

With plans to sign in the early period this November, McDaniels does have a feel of what he is looking for in a college. “I want a family oriented program, with good academics, and somewhere that plays my style. Also, a great player developmental program.”

After a July that McDaniels had cashed in on with quality offers, it would seem that when it does come to sign the pen to the paper, one of the four schools that are most likely to receive his signature might come from the group of San Diego State, Texas, Washington, and Arizona State.
