2026 Grassroots Showcase Day 2 Notebook from Justin Byerly
LOUISVILLE, KY - The 2026 Grassroots Showcase at the Kentucky Expo Center is at the halfway point and we are ready for a competitive Sunday. We have a lot of notes to go through over the last day and a half. Let's take a dive into the notebook.
The Next Hilltopper
Western Kentucky commitment Jack Logsdon was impressive so far for Kentucky Basketball Club. The 6-foot-6 small forward was the top performer in the Friday night game and in the second game we saw today. WKU Head Coach Hank Plona is getting a guy that has positional size, a high basketball IQ and a scorer who makes smart plays. Logsdon will be playing his college basketball only 54 miles from where he grew up.
Talkin' Tennessee
One program that has continued to pump out college prospect after college prospect is Chip Smith's Tennessee Tiger program, who made their debut this weekend with HoopSeen and again, they have some guys that caught our attention.
Amonett handles pressure, he is a shot maker with good court vision and has a smooth overall game. He wants the ball in his hands and stays composed. He is a three-point threat and can score in a variety of ways. He creates space and was consistent all weekend with his mid-range jumper. He scored 20 points in the game we watched today.
Glenn has been on our radar for past year now. He had a solid showing as a 16-and-under prospect at this same event last season. Now with the 17-and-under group. Glenn has taken over more of a scoring roll and ball -handling roll. He has probably the quickest first-step that we have or will see this weekend. He blows-by defenders and gets to the rim with ease. The southpaw can make shots from the outside and has been one of the best guards we saw this weekend.
Hello My Name Is
Samari Pettus for Up Next Elite caught my eye today. The 2028 prospect has great size. he has length and he is aggressive on both ends of the floor. He has a motor like a 1957 Chevy and doesn't quit. I love his competitiveness and his will to get the ball, whether on rebounds or a loose ball. I think he is a guy to watch for college coaches to start tracking over the next few months.
Another Norcross Heat Guard
Jevon Sullivan is another playmaker for this Norcross Heat squad. He can make shots from all spots on the floor and he has a good feel for the game. His physicality as a guard is something college coaches like to see. With the way that recruiting is right now, I could see Sullivan doing a year at a junior college and then getting on a Division II roster down the road.
