Ian Bailey Commits to UNC-Asheville

One of WNC’‘s top prospects is off the board this morning. Asheville Christian Academy’s Ian Bailey, a 6 foot three point guard has committed to Mike Morrell and UNC-Asheville. Bailey has been on our radar for a couple of years now and has really picked up a lot of steam among Programs regionally with his play. Bailey chose UNC-Asheville over Stetson and Western Carolina.

He spent his past travel season playing with Team Vision. We had a chance to speak to Bailey about his commitment and here’s what he said. “For me it was Coach Morrell and the whole staff’s proven track record of winning and developing players and their vision of how i could contribute. The competitive culture around their program as well as the family atmosphere also stood out to me.”

Growing up in the Asheville area and playing his high school basketball season in Asheville, Bailey will now have family be able to come to his home games in the Big South.

“It will mean a lot to me having my family at my games. Growing up we used to go watch UNC Asheville play so for them to be able to come watch me play now in Kimmel Arena will be a great feeling”, Bailey said.
