2025 Atlanta Jam: Friday Notebook from Justin Byerly
The baselines at Suwanee Sports Academy had college coaches for Friday night at The Atlanta Jam up and down the courts. Prospects from all over the Southeast had the chance to play in front of Division I and a plethora of Division II, III and NAIA coaches from around the region. Below is what caught our eye during the first live period of the 2025 cycle.
Lord of the Rings
Isiah Ring stat line for D13 Elite goes like this. 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists. The lethal two-way guard from Nashville was at his best tonight when it mattered. A blow-out win, a stuffed stat sheet and coaches saw it. I bet more will be there tomorrow. The 6-foot-3 guard was impressive in the win tonight and it was good to see him back in action on the HoopSeen stage after an impressive BamaJam.
Ring has a quick first-step and can get by defenders going straight to the rim or knocking down a pull-up. He plays with toughness and is one of those old school playing guards that loves to compete, where they are few and far between. - Justin Byerly
Beating An Old Drum
Caleb Drummer continues his stellar play for Reach Higher Kings. Tonight, at The Atlanta Jam, he dropped 16 points in a win. He has been a double-figure scorer for the Kings for the last couple of events and he is starting to see it all come together.
He is an interesting prospect because of his size and quickness. He is tough for guards to handle because of his strength and the big guys have trouble with his because of his quickness. He is an undersized four or five prospect but man...he get's it done. - Justin Byerly
Bob Dylan's Biggest Hits
The song "Hurricane" was a huge single for Bob Dylan back in the 70's. We have a version, The Durham Hurricanes from Durham, North Carolina. They have been playing up a storm in each event they come to with us. Tonight they got the win over Hoop Atlanta Black, 57-51. It was a steady scoresheet with everyone contributing in the win.
Jakari Glaspie made some tough shots and some strong drives to the basket to finish with 10 points. Devin Gladston, with his physical presence on defense and ability to get put-backs on rebounds finished with 10 points. Aden Jeffries, a guy that I think has a high-ceiling finished with 10 points as well but did it out on the perimeter and in the paint. This is a fun group to watch and I could see them going 4-0 on the weekend. - Justin Byerly
Sam I Am
HoopAthens 6-foot-3 guard Sam Moody came out hot tonight here at The Atlanta Jam. He scored 26 points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked two shots. He's a guard with good size and he can shoot it. What is the most impressive part of his game, I think it's his rebounding for his position. He rebounds at a really high rate for a 6-foot-3 guard that spends some time on the perimeter. - Justin Byerly
Take A Chance
Adian Grady just keeps playing at a high-level. Tonight at our Atlanta Jam, the point guard dropped 25 points in a win over TNBA Tampa. He does what he does. He can hurt you with his ability to make shots from the outside and he can hurt you with his ability to get into the lane where he will finish. He is what we call a True PG, something that we don't see a lot of anymore. This dude gets it and knows what he is. He can get his buckets and he can also dish them out to his teammates. Watch him tomorrow and tell me I am wrong. - Justin Byerly
