The Warm-Up: Saturday Notebook

Our Mekhi McKinney was at our first ever Warm Up with OnTheRadar and here is what jumped out the first day of the event…

The Star That Keeps on Shining

Trace Adcock and the Georgia Generals are back again this year, looking more dangerous than ever. Adcock appears to have grown a couple of inches over the fall and winter, and his game has improved as well. He’s more comfortable absorbing contact and finishing in transition, which opens up even more opportunities for him with his shooting ability and court vision. His length at the top of their full-court press creates problems for opponents, often leading to transition buckets for him and his teammates.

I also can’t forget about their quarterback, Cord Burrell. Burrell consistently makes winning plays for the Generals while also serving as a reliable scoring option. His ability to finish around the basket, rebound, and find teammates in transition helps the team thrive all game long.

The Duo of Deshonvaris Lundy & Kingston Allen Shine for P.A.G. Raptors

Deshonvaris Lundy and Kingston Allen were outstanding for the P.A.G. Raptors in their win over Atlanta Xpress. Lundy, a shifty, shot-making point guard, keeps defenders on their toes with his ability to create shots and get into the paint for kick-outs, dump-offs, and layups. His dynamic playmaking makes him a tough cover, and it showed in this game.

Lundy continuously weathered the storm—whenever Xpress seemed to make a run, he responded by knocking down a big-time shot or making a key pass that led to one. His teammate, Kingston Allen, was right beside him, showcasing his touch and feel for the game. Allen excelled in transition and demonstrated a knack for getting open off the ball, allowing his guards to find him for catch-and-shoot threes or cuts to the rim.

With a roster full of talent and shot-makers, the P.A.G. Raptors will be a tough matchup for any opponent.

Another Big Guard

Noah Jenkins was dominant today in both games for TN Impact 14U. With his big frame, ball-handling skills, speed, and strength, Jenkins is a tough matchup for any defender. He consistently attacked the rim, either finishing with a layup or drawing fouls to get to the free-throw line. In addition to his inside presence, he showcased a reliable three-point shot, knocking down multiple attempts throughout the day. It was an impressive performance from the big guard, and I’m looking forward to seeing more from him.

Fuego, Fuego, Fuego!

Fuego Factory dominated their 13U division today with a commanding 63-9 win over Atlanta Celtics Gold and a 58-26 victory over P.A.G. Raptors 2030. Brandon Alston led the way with his shot-making and ability to find teammates for open looks. Eric Dobson was another bright spot, showcasing his scoring ability around the basket. Multiple players contributed to Fuego Factory’s success, with four players scoring 6+ points in both games. They have a well-rounded group that will be tough to beat this weekend.

Eye Catcher

This was my first time getting a look at Kingston Clahar, the 2029 Atlanta Xpress guard. Clahar is a big guard who thrives at getting downhill and finishing through contact. He has the potential to be special in the 2029 class with his skills, but his competitiveness and edge on the court set him apart.

He made numerous plays on the defensive end, guarding 94 feet and blocking shots off the backboard, which led to transition points for his teammates. His teammate, Christian Meyer, was impressive as well, knocking down multiple jumpers, playing off two feet, and making winning plays. Meyer did a great job finding his spots and playing within the flow of the game, showcasing his efficiency.

These two should have a great spring and summer, with their stock continuing to rise.
