HoopSeen Five: Nov. 19th-26th

Our Staff was out last week as the High School season rolled on with some elite events and matchups. Here were some takeaways…

  1. DOG Mentality- A staple in our FIVE. Here are some players that showed some competitiveness & grit over the last several days.

Rabun County’s whole team could be in this category but two players really stood out as dogs in a close loss to Lassiter last week. 2026 PG Huey Blalock plays the position with a chip on his shoulder and is a joy to watch run the offense. 2027 G/F Reed Burrell was terrific all game, especially in the 4th quarter where he would not let the Wildcats down without a fight. Hitting several high difficulty shots.

Like Rabun County, the Central (AL) team could all be in this category but on Monday, 2026 PG Jay Ford stood out above the rest in a win against North Gwinnett. He is one of the quickest guards we have seen so far this season. When he decided to make a move to the basket, the ball was already through the hoop and he made several tough finishes despite his smaller frame.

2025 Dacula Guard Anderson Shepherd is super athletic and versatile on both ends. He showcased his ability to guard multiple positions with the combination of quickness and length. On offense, he shot the ball well all over with 3 threes, and multiple And-1s, finishing through contact.

In that same game, Duluth 2027 F Randall Kellum contributed to the win against Dacula with his size and ability to get 2nd chance points off of offensive rebounds. A true big man who can protect the rim and dominate in the paint. Kellum finished with 15 pts and 8 reb.

  1. Knock Downs - Last week, the shooters game to play. Here are some of the best shooters we saw last week

    -2025 G Charlie Wright - Lassiter
    -2025 G Cade Lomas - Sequoyah
    -2025 G Brendan Tousignaut - Sequoyah
    -2026 F Ledger Kincaid - GAC
    -2025 F JJ Gallagher - North Gwinnett
    -2026 G Nate Earl - Milton
    -2026 F Isaiah Lewis - Decatur
    -2025 G
    Cooper Heller - Etowah

  1. Star Power - We saw some absolute stars this week in the peach. Below are some of the best we saw this past week.

Jacksonville State Commit 2025 F Jacoby Hill of Central (AL) is a ultra athletic forward that made highlight play after highlight play in a win against North Gwinnett on Monday.

Milton and Grayson was one of the best match-ups so far this season not only in the peach but in the nation and it was littered with Stars.

Milton 2025 G & Milwaukee Commit Josh Dixon was on fire to start the game and played well throughout. He is one of the best ball handlers in the state and made it impossible for defenders to stay in front of him with his ankle breaking handle.

Grayson’s team is full of stars, but 2025 F Jacob Wilkins & 2025 F Amir Taylor stood out in the win against Milton. Wilkins is a silky smooth scorer from the perimeter, who showed his ability to make difficult shots and even seal smaller defenders underneath the basket for easy finishes and free throws to put the game out of reach in the 4th quarter.

If Wilkins is the lightning, Amir Taylor is the Thunder. He was impossible to keep out of the paint and finished through contact effortlessly. He also showed open court athleticism and an ability to knock down open shots.

Pace Academy 2025 F Chandler Bing was easily the best player on the floor in an overtime win against HIES at Hawks Naismith. Bing had a thunderous poster dunk in the 2nd half that was a big energy boost for Pace. Along with knocking down multiple threes, he did a lot of the damage in the mid-range, and getting to the rim. A true definition of a 3-level scorer finishing with 37 points.

  2. Best Games- With so many high-level events this week there were some awesome games. Here are two that stood out…

    GAC v. Sequoyah
The Jared Cook Classic never fails to provide amazing games, and this one was at the top of the list on Monday.

A close game throughout that started with GAC 2025 G Mikey Carpenter flying up and down the court in transition, finishing and finding 2026 F Ledger Kincaid for open threes.

Sequoyah turned it on in the 2nd quarter and flipped the game to lead at half behind Seniors Cade Lomas and Brendan Tousignaut (who also scored his 1,000 career point).

The 4th quarter was a back-and-forth battle with GAC G Mario Hill having one of the best all-around quarters you will see. He had a couple steals that led to easy finishes and big-time rebounds over taller defenders.

Ultimately, however, it was Sequoyah and Lomas’ day as he hit a high difficulty three with 2.2 seconds remaining to ice the game. He was the best player on the floor the entire game.

Dacula v Duluth

Duluth overcame a 11-point halftime deficit to outlast Dacula in the final minute of the game thanks to an outstanding 2nd half defensive performance. The Wildcats held Dacula to just 18 2nd half points.

After still trailing by 7 going into the 4th, buckets were tough to come by down the stretch, until David Culbreath-Martin used his aggressiveness to make the tying and go-ahead bucket with 3 seconds left to secure a 60-58 win. Culbreath-Martin was fantastic in this game on the defensive end as well.
