Josh Scott makes the easy decision, chooses Lipscomb

Sometimes good decisions are easy to make. Just ask Fort Payne (AL) wing Josh Scott, who made one of the biggest decisions of his life on Monday, as he made his verbal commitment to Lipscomb and head coach Lennie Acuff.

“Lipscomb is a great fit for me all-around,” Scott told HoopSeen.com following his pledge. “Coach Acuff did a great job recruiting me and talking to me about what he saw in me as a player.”

While he doesn’t reside in north Alabama anymore, Acuff’s name still resonates with basketball folks in the area. HIs impressive resume and success at all stops (including Alabama-Huntsville) played a pivotal role in Scott’s decision to choose the Bison. But, what does Acuff see in Scott as a player at the next level?

“He sees me as a big wing that can shoot and play extremely hard with a high motor.”

Scott caught the Lipscomb head man’s attention a few weeks ago at Hoover High School during the June scholastic period. In fact, the rising senior made quite a statement to open up the AHSAA Live Team Camp – he scored 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against reigning 6A state champion Buckhorn. He followed that up with a 20+ point performance against Vestavia Hills later in the afternoon.

Those two games are the perfect summary of how Scott played during the spring with Pro One Select Academic. The lengthy 6-foot-6 wing was a constant motor for his team, setting the tone and doing the little things that translate to wins. HIs ability to make shots at a high rate didn’t hurt, either.

Scott chose the Bison over a scholarship offer from North Florida, but Division II programs UA-Huntsville, Montevallo, and Trevecca-Nazarene were also involved.

Scott is the No. 10 overall prospect in Alabama’s 2025 class.
