Atlanta Jam Top Performers: 17U, part I

SUWANEE, GA - The NCAA Live Period lives in the Peach State and the 2024 edition of the Atlanta Jam unveiled a number of players worthy of a deep dive on the recruiting front. Our staff rolls out part I of our top overall performers.

A year after first seeing Hines at our Best of the South, he continues to impress here at our Atlanta Jam. The 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward was a monster on the glass, blocked shots, showed he can step out and shoot it from outside and tried to destroy rims. He currently holds a dozen mid-to-high major football offers as a defensive end but I think he should be garnering some major basketball attention as well. He has great hands when he catches rebounds or passes down low, Hines runs the floor with purpose and he looks like he can be a two-sport guy at the next level. - Justin Byerly

Easily one of the best shooters - if not the best shooter - here at the Atlanta Jam. Wright pumped in 19.5 points a game throughout four games and 17 total made three-pointers for South Georgia Elite. Wright was unstoppable from the perimeter and was one of the best overall players and prospects in the entire event. Whenever he wanted to be a threat from the wing, he was. It was that kind of weekend from Wright and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be slowing down at all either. - Justin Young

Smith was one of the top big men in attendance this weekend at Atlanta Jam with Kountry Wayne Elite. The 6’8 forward showed he can score from multiple areas on the floor, whether it was post-ups on the block, mid-post, or stepping out to knock down a three. Smith’s patience in the post was impressive as he used a variety of ball fakes to get his defender to react so he could get to his spot. His touch around the basket capped it all off, allowing him to make some tough shots around and over defenders. Hopefully, he will see his recruitment pick up soon. - Mekhi McKinney

In probably the biggest win of the year for the Tennessee Tigers, they knock off the talented Florida Pro in a close game throughout. Henderson was a big difference maker. He scored 15 points and some crucial baskets that sealed the deal late. Henderson is at his best when he is getting into the lane and making defenders miss. He is strong enough to finish at the rim with contact on the way to the hoop. This was a performance that had plenty of college coaches on hand to see it and Henderson looks like he can play at the next level. - Justin Byerly

Scott wasted no time making a splash at the Atlanta Jam as he made five three-pointers on Friday night. He continued that throughout the weekend, making multiple treys in four games of action. He isn’t just a shooter, though. The lanky 6-foot-6 wing also showcased his playmaking and slashing abilities with several plays off the bounce and above the rim. Scott came in with some college interest but it’s safe to say that interest will grow after this weekend. - Garrett Tucker
