Team AKT was one of the many competitive teams that suited up in the 17U division of BOTS last weekend in downtown Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center. Some of that competitive nature came from 2024 Tenleytown (DC) Jackson-Reed High School guard Lucas Sekasi.

Sekasi, a long and lanky 6-foot-5 guard, spent most of his time playing on the ball for AKT as a primary ball-handler. He did a nice job of controlling the game and playing with a high basketball IQ throughout the weekend. I thought Sekasi thrived in pick-and-roll opportunities, too. 

But don’t get stuck on a specific position with the rising senior. He’s a ball player that does a lot of good things that translate to wins, and, in the end, that’s what matters the most. 

Sekasi currently holds a lone scholarship offer from NJIT, but that’s bound to change over the next few weeks. He and his AKT teammates had dozens of college coaches following their games at BOTS.

“I think I’ve had a good summer. Fairleigh Dickinson, UMBC, Howard, and Maine are some of the schools recruiting me right now,” Sekasi told HoopSeen.com. 

After watching Sekasi and AKT for a couple of games, don’t be surprised to see him and his teammates busting some brackets in a few years.
