NPES: North GA Elite continues championship appearance
SUWANEE – Playing on championship Sunday is becoming normal for the North Georgia Elite 13U team.
North Georgia beat the Atlanta Xpress 55-46 to win the 13U championship of the Norman Parker Elite Showcase at Suwanee Sports Academy. The win has given the Elite squad its third title of the season. This team has not won every tournament it has entered but it manages to be one of the final two teams, for the most part.
Much of the team’s success comes from its ability to stretch the floor on defense and offense. They also have balance scoring, which gives them the depth most teams do not have at this time.
One of the main catalysts is Bailey Minor. He causes problems with his length and agility in becoming a matchup problem for the opposing center. His effort helped him record a team-high 17 points. Hiram Maxey added 12 points as he wiggled through the defense and showed plenty of flare in the open court.
North Georgia Elite helped its cause with its aggressive nature at getting to the basket. They went to the free throw line 32 times during the course of the game. The shots made were enough to help them extend and secure the lead.
