2023 HoopSeen Tip-Off: Available Senior Spotlight
SUWANEE, Ga—The spring is a time for unsigned seniors to shine. There are still coaches out there looking to complete their rosters. We have plenty of them reaching out to various members of the HoopSeen team looking for intel, so we’ve been having these conversations consistently over the last few months.
Tip-Off saw several available 2023s shine, and plenty of them added to their well-documented stories. Here are five of the standouts from the weekend.
Taveras blew our staff away with his play as an unsigned senior at the HoopSeen Tip-Off. The 6-foot-5 guard has plus ball skills and used some slick moves in the paint to be an efficient finisher around the rim throughout the weekend. With his size and the ability to play on and off the ball, Taveras brings some valuable versatility on both ends of the floor. Several Division I schools are currently showing interest. - Garrett Tucker
Tiller is one of those guys that can change the way the game pans out with his energy and his willingness to not take a play off. He has a great motor, gets up and down the floor in a hurry and is one of the most athletic players we saw on the weekend. The unsigned senior has some division two interest and could go out and play at that level tomorrow. He should be able to sniff some division one minutes at the low major level. He showed that he can knock down shots from the three-point line, get to the free-throw line, knock down some mid-range shots and attack the rim. - Justin Byerly
Williams has come up in various conversations with college coaches looking for unsigned senior forwards. After having followed Williams’ high school career at Buford, I’ve seen him impact winning on successful teams. This weekend, he showed a little bit of everything that we’ve seen from him in the past. He can be a physical presence around the basket and has touch that extends to the 3-point line. - Josh Tec
Pantlitz is an available senior forward who should be on plenty of watchlists for coaches that are still in the market for bigs. He’s a 6-foot-9 forward that doesn’t mind being big. By that, I mean that he tends to use his size to benefit the team without doing too much. Pantlitz is a guy that’ll focus on pulling boards and throwing down dunks while mixing in some of the finesse, skill parts of the game. - Josh Tec
South Georgia was in the building over the weekend, and DJ Berry was one of the stars putting on for the area with the Georgia Suns. He had an eye-opening weekend. His athleticism is what shined the most, but he also showed that he can knock shots down from the perimeter consistently. The 6-foot-5 wing from Valdosta is someone that coaches should look at. His weekend was highlighted by a 33-point game, but he scored at a high level in all of the Georgia Suns’ games. - Josh Tec
Hoover just helped lead King’s Ridge to the first state championship in school history. He was one of the very best in a talent-laden A-DI classification. He’s playing with Hype Hawks this spring and is continuing to produce. Hoover is an athletic, physical presence around the basket. He routinely out-hustles bigger forwards. - Josh Tec
