2022 Senior Spotlight: Chloe Sterling
Chloe Sterling put the state on notice last season as she led Marietta through a tough bracket to win the GHSA 7A state championship. The 5-foot-7 point guard is incredibly fun to watch. She is extremely shifty off the dribble, breaking defenders down with ease. Sterling is a masterful creator of space and gets to any spot she wants on the floor. Her IQ and feel for the game really stands out watching her play. The offense is orchestrated through her, and it is evident her teammates trust her direction.
After averaging 23 points throughout the playoffs, she picked up offers from the likes of Georgia Southern, Murray State, Kennesaw State, Florida, and Winthrop. However, Sterling ultimately committed and signed to James Madison back in December. The Dukes are getting a smart, dynamic, and unselfish player in Sterling. With her being the only point guard signed in their 2022 class, she has the chance to come in and make a quick impact. Her ability to score the ball in a variety of ways will translate to the college game, especially factoring in the different ways she can create space.

James Madison currently trails their opponents in total points scored, PPG, assists, and steals. The addition of Sterling has the potential to change some of those statistics. She is that type of player; a special talent with the intangibles coaches vie for. If she was four or five inches taller, a ton of high major programs would have been knocking down her door. After watching her play a couple of times, it was clear to me that she is without a doubt a high major talent. She is having a solid senior campaign thus far, leading her team in scoring (17 ppg), rebounding (5.4 pg), and assists (3.2 pg).
