Senior Spotlight: Surge Christian Academy guard Eric Lee
A productive travel season with Team Speights Elite opened our staff's eyes to the potential of Surge Christian Academy guard Eric Lee. Whether it was our Atlanta Jam or Best of the South, Lee played a prominent role as a play maker next to future Murray State guard Dionte Blanch. Natural instincts, savvy play and great size for a next level guard were easy to see evaluating his game as a division I guard. Playing next to Blanch allowed us to see his value as both a primary and secondary ball handler, and regardless he remained comfortable in every scenario. While some need the ball to be productive, Lee found ways in impact the game while staying within the flow of the game. There is also some fight about him defensively that should allow him to hold up well against players at his same position.
His travel coach, Mo Speights, had this to say about Lee as we reach the mid point of his senior season. "Eric has had a solid season so far, shooting a career high from three, developing his game all around. Especially his ball handling. He's a great kid with a 3.9 gpa." Since the end of the travel season, Lee has picked up interest from New Orleans, Radford, UNC-Asheville, Stetson, Davidson, Rice and Boston. It's on par with his showings at our events, and could pick up as we enter the holiday season. For programs looking for stability, back court size, and a high IQ prospect, Lee is one to check on before it gets any later.
