Rongie Gordon discusses in-state appeal at the Emerald Coast 16

One player that impressed at this years first Emerald Coast 16 was Sidney Lanier 2020 big man Rongie Gordon. With Auburn and Missouri State both in to watch him, Gordon showed off his high level feel and size that many have coveted for the past couple of months. After a game in which he had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Gordon spoke with Hoopseen about his visits, both in the past and upcoming.

"I dont know what visits Im going to take." Gordon said when asked about future visits. I've been to Alabama. I went up to Auburn. I want to go up to Florida, and Ohio State. The schools that are prioritizing me are Alabama and Auburn. Those are the schools that I know."

When asked what was appealing about Florida and Ohio State, the best forward in Alabama's 2020 class had this to say.

"I like Florida's style. I like coach Mike. I like Ohio State, how there system is run and everything up there."

After visits taking visits to both Auburn and Alabama, Gordon spoke about the impression that both head coaches left with him.

"I love coach Avery, the sytem he runs and how he develops guys. Bruce Pearl, I love how he coaches. It's a good program and atmosphere up there. I think I can play there."

With the in-state programs prioritizing him, the significance of those offers stood out for several reasons.

"It's great for me and my family because it's close to home. My family can see me play. The atmosphere is good to play in. Playing for coach Avery and Bruce Pearl would be amazing for me."

Gordon has a great blend of size and playmaking ability to should create a niche for him at the next level. A solid travel season with the Georgia Stars prompted several programs to get involved with who we consider as a top 5 player, and the best at his position in the state of Alabama. When asked what was next for him going into the travel season, Gordon had his eyes on the possibilities of more to come.

" Get more offers. Playing hard. Taking more visits and showing coaches what I really can do."
