Cameron Jones excited to join Jacksonville State
2018 Memphis (TN) Whitehaven wing Cameron Jones signed with Jacksonville State last week, as he took another step towards accomplishing his goal of playing Division I basketball.
Playing with the Memphis Bulls over the summer, Jone impressed the Gamecocks staff with his length, athleticism, and upside. The 6-foot-6 wing man should bring versatility and anther quality piece to Ray Harper's team.
"It feels really good to say that I have signed a Division I scholarship," Jones told HoopSeen.com. "I am very excited about what the college experience has in store for me."
Jones was an important piece for Whitehaven last season. He was named to the city's All-Metro team following the season. Jones has several intangibles that intrigued Harper and his staff, but the family atmosphere ultimately led the Memphis product to the Ohio Valley Conference and Jacksonville State.
"What I liked most about Jacksonville State was that the team was more family-oriented and everyone treated each other the same, from the coaches to the players."
Jones was the only prospect the signed with the Gamecocks during the early signing period. They will look to add some more firepower in the spring and continue their NCAA Tournament run.
