UAB lands pledge from 2018 PF Tamell Pearson
UAB picked up a commitment from 2018 Chicago (IL) Morgan Park power forward Tamell Pearson following an official visit to campus this weekend, a source told HoopSeen.com.
"UAB is the perfect fit for me," Pearson told HoopSeen.com. "There's an all-around satisfaction there. I have a perfect opportunity to be successful and play at the next level."
"The visit was awesome. There is a big-time family feel and the players and coaches are awesome, too."
Pearson, a 6-foot-8 big man, averaged seven points and six rebounds playing with the Mac Irvin Fire on the Nike EYBL circuit. The UAB staff has big aspirations for him once he steps on campus next year.
"Coach [Rob] Ehsan envisions me having a big role as a freshman. I will be coming in after William Lee graduates and should be able to slide into his place," Pearson explained.
Pearson chose the Blazers over scholarship offers from Cleveland State, Missouri State, Murray State, Oklahoma State, and Washington State.
Pearson joins big man Jude Akabueze in UAB's 2018 recruiting class.
